American Battle Monuments Commission announces Memorial Day ceremonies at 26 cemeteries worldwide

Published May 5, 2026

The American Battle Monuments Commission announces Memorial Day ceremonies May 21–25, 2026, at its 26 American military cemeteries around the world. The events will honor the service and sacrifice of U.S. service members who gave their lives in defense of freedom.

Ceremonies will include wreath layings, military honors, and moments of reflection, and will be conducted in partnership with local dignitaries, veteran organizations, and military units. Members of the public are invited to attend these commemorations, which offer an opportunity to pay tribute to the fallen who are interred or memorialized at ABMC sites.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and our enduring responsibility to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Through these ceremonies, we honor their service and ensure their legacy continues to be shared with future generations.

Memorial Day observances are central to ABMC’s mission to honor the service of the U.S. armed forces by creating and maintaining memorial sites overseas, providing commemorative services, and promoting education about the sacrifices made in defense of the nation.

A detailed schedule of ceremonies is available online at Memorial Day Ceremonies – American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC)

The American Battle Monuments Commission sites are a constant reminder of Gen. John J. Pershing’s promise that, “time will not dim the glory of their deeds.”
